Happy New Year!

I’m sitting snuggled up in my giant chair with a hot chocolate listening to the rather incessant rain once again tapping at the dark window on a pleasantly relaxed New Years day. After the usual Christmas hype then inevitable come down I have to admit I’ve rather enjoyed myself today, I even went for a walk, picked some winter heliotrope which is currently making my living room smell amazing, and I’m asking myself if I’m up for a challenge?

I know, I’m constantly pushing myself, its how I function best and I already have a challenge this year of raising money for Marie Curie but this challenge I’m hoping will be more reflective, less physical.

I got a 3 year diary this year and it only allows for one entry a week… it got me thinking

Everyday on my social media I do a Good morning post, a Plant of the Day post and often a good evening post so all I’m going to ask myself to do is write a small paragraph a day with a few thoughts on things I’ve done, how or why I’ve done them and hopefully this will be something you can find useful?

Phew! That was a hell of a lot of I’s

It may continue… sorry

Anyway, I’m already thinking about the Dahlias and cut flowers to grow this year, so much so I had a stress dream last night that I’d forgotten to sow the sweet peas…. I haven’t, although I am concerned that a rodent may have had their xmas dinner on them.

The ones we grew last year were magnificent but Id like to add to the collection, it’s a big garden and there’s so much room to fill.

I’m considering Honka White, not because I like it but because I think it will function well with the aesthetic of the restaurant, they like a minimalist, clean look to their flowers, unscented and long lasting. I will also be adding some more glorious decorative Dahlias as honestly one of the loveliest things I was able to do last year was to pull together fabulous bouquets at a moments notice, I genuinely cant tell you how much pleasure this gave me.

Whilst Ive been writing Kasi has come and joined me to purr on my knee (I know she doesn’t look happy but she is, honest) and I got side tracked by that Siren Sarah Raven!

So here’s to my commitment of a weekly diary and a year of Cut Flower Fridays! I hope you’ll join me

autumn sown sweet peas doing well. must remember to sow some now for later flowering. snowdrops have gone over really quickly this year so I’ll be able to split them up very soon

That’s cheered me up! I LOVE the Honka series of dahlias: I think Honka Rose is my current fave! Used to be Verrone’s obsidian, which I still love, and Fancy Pants comes a close third!
